Student Life Centre (SLC)

The Student Life Centre (or SLC, pronounced 'slick') is a hub of activities and services open 24/7. It's found across the field from MC and contains 'study spaces to events, club activities, and diverse exhibits'. The SLC is operated by WUSA, which also has offices inside the building.

History

The Student Life Centre was originally constructed as the Campus Centre in 1968.

In 2003, the SLC was expanded with a new third floor and a curved window on the second floor overlooking MC. New SLC window in 2003

In 2017 construction began on an expansion to the SLC and the neighbouring PAC. It was intended to be completed in Fall 2018, but naturally the completion date was pushed back to Spring 2019. Wait sorry. I meant Fall 2020. The SLC/PAC expansion opened in Setepmber 2021. Close enough.

Notably, part of the expansion 'fills in' the circular courtyard and facade facing the MC building on the lower floors.

SLC Expansion

There are still some remaining remaining segments of the original exterior wall and shape on the first floor that reveal the building's former round footprint which you can see in the food court, if you care about that kind of thing.
