Mathematics & Computer
The Mathematics & Computer building (also known as MC, pronounced 'mick') is the home to Mathematics and Computer Science students. Constructed in 1968, the building is unfortunately an iconic example of brutalist architecture.
History
Trivia
- MC was designed by the same architecture firm who designed the CN Tower. I'm serious.
- The MC building once contained the Red Room, a two-story chamber housing an IBM 360/75. Of the building’s $7.5 million price tag (around $65 million today); $4.5 million was just for the computer.
- There's a really cool page about the Red Room on the Waterloo website. I think it's as old as the room.
- MC has a tunnel link to C2, however only a fraction of students who take that path come out unscathed.
